5K FUN RUN GETS FAMILIES IN THE LOOP FOR A GREAT CAUSE
Event to Benefit the American Cancer Society, Bring East Orlando
Together to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness
(Orlando, FL) September 03, 2009 – Are you in the loop? Florida Hospital East Orlando and Insight Magazine invite East Orlando families to help Stretch the Pink Ribbon Around the World in a 5K Family Fun Run September 13 to raise awareness about breast cancer. The run, which will hand out free T-shirts to the first 100 participants, starts at 10:00 a.m. and will benefit the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event from the American Cancer Society.
Stretching around the Waterford Lakes Town Center, the 5K Family Fun Run is open to runners of all ages and skill levels. The event precedes the In the Loop activities taking place later in the day featuring the transformation of the Town Center into a French-themed park side bistro, two entertainment stages, free friendship phone calls, auctions and more.
“The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about one in eight,” says Jennifer Thompson, co-publisher of Insight Magazine and chair for the 2009 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. “The 5K is not only a great, healthy way for families to spend the morning, but it’s also a way to raise awareness for this terrible disease in a unique environment never seen before in our community.”
